Dropped Catches Lose Matches

It's an old saw, and it's true.  If you drop the centurion 5 times in an innings, you're going to have to work really hard to make up the difference.  Despite some excellent spin bowling from the Brian, Matty K and Scooby, and good support from the other Matt, the other Kilford, Nick & Andy, United Oxford Hospital still reached a challenging 225 - 7 from their 35.

A truly excellent tea from Cathy and friends wasn't enough to distract the UOH bowlers from their task, though runs came quickly from all in our upper order.  Nick's 6-hitting was a pleasure to watch, as was an unbeaten 50-odd from skipper, Jimbo.  But in the end we fell 14 runs short.

Coming up short

A spirited ground fielding and bowling performance was overshadowed by a dismal aerial fielding effort which saw us drop the same man 5 times who then went on to score an unbeaten 103

UOHCC scored 225 in their 35 overs which would have been considerably more were it not for the spin twins Matt and Scooby who bowled the last five overs for only 28 runs between them.

WCC run chase started well with a good stand between Nick Hill and Foxy putting on 60 odd for the first wicket, however we were always just behind the rate and a spirited 40 from Paul Higgs and 65* from the skipper saw us come up just 14 runs short at the end. A good day played in good spirit enjoyed by all.
