A Good Weekend's Cricket at Last
Saturday: A draw on a sunny day and damp wicket BBC Caversham batted first on a slow wicket ("like bales of hay" - Ed.), posting a reasonable score of 137. Mostly due to some fairly lame half-track bowling by Whitchurch it has to be said, with only Richard Leach and Matty Kilford really stepping up to the mark. Whitchurch's reply was slow to get going, but despite an excellent 55 from Paul Vaughan, a flurry of late order wickets trying to force the pace left us playing for a draw in the last over, needing another 20 runs. Still, nice to get out in the sun. And we were nearly all-out.... in the sun.
