Whitchurch v Woodley

Heavy overnight rain made for a damp wicket at the start of the game but the Woodley attack could not penetrate the WCC top order with WCC batting first - half century from Woody and good knocks from Nick Hill 90 and Sid 78* led to wcc amassing 268. We had a couple of breaks for rain and I have to say it was heading cats organizing people putting covers on and off! WCC took the field on what was now a drying wicket - their opener played a good knock of 97 but he didn’t get great support from the other end. finally Woodley were bowled out for 210 with wcc winning by 50+ runs. good bowling by Tom Chappers, Jonny Francis, Andy M and Lyn and Grogie who got a 5-fer with his dibbley dobblers! Great catches from Jonny and Jon and Woodey's catch behind to end the game was special- so special in fact that if he hadn’t have caught it it would have taken his front teeth out! Special mention to Nick Hill for dropping 3 dollies Grogie

Northolt Manor CC from West London were the oppo on a sunny Saturday at Whitchurch 23 degrees - very nice! The oppo won the toss and batted- it became an innings of dropped catches - 9 in all, and this allowed their good batter to get away and score 100- their final score of 289 would have been more like 160-170 if we had taken our catches ! However Jonny G Bowled well and took a brace (his first wickets for the club well done Jonny) and Francis and Grogie also took a brace - there was a gazelle like run out facilitated by Tom Chappers that was  special. Our reply stuttered and we regularly lost wickets finally being bowled out for 120- good knock of 49 by Tom and a cameo of 20 odd were the highlights- really nice opp and we all enjoyed the game. On Sunday, we hosted White Walkers C. A nice sunny day after overnight rain that didn’t have an impact on the wicket - lovely set of Sri Lankan lads - they batted first and scored 202 all out - good bowling from Tom and Lyn and Ronnie...
