What
went after - which was excellent cricket by Whitchurch – was completely
wasted after both the Strokemaker’s openers were dropped early on,
allowing them to put on a soul-destroying partnership of 100 in just
12 overs.
After the initial onslaught, Mark Burton, Matt Kilford and the skipper took regular wickets, which had the desired effect of reducing the scoring rate, but still left Whitchurch chasing a daunting 214 in 30 overs.
Unfortunately, needing 7 an over, the chase never got off the ground with only Harry Williams and the skipper reaching 30. Whitchurch eventually limped to 121 for 9 in their 30 overs, losing by 93 runs.

ps. Nick's three catches can't go unmentioned though - how often are fielding jugs needed!? [Ed.]
